Meet "The Train Guy," Mike Offiner

Mike Offineer, a.k.a., "The Train Guy," will visit both the Camdenton and Osage Beach libraries.  Mike worked for MKT and Union Pacific rail lines for 41 years before his retirement in 2014.  After retiring, Mike wanted a way to share his love and passion for these large machines and to do so he visit libraries, historical socities, and even living rooms.  During his presentation, Mike will speak on the different aspects of railroading, including:

  • The history of the Caboose
  • How trains and locomotives operate
  • View photos and artifacts of the Katy Railroad
  • Learn lantern and hand signals
  • Safety rules for highway/road crossings
  • and General railroading

Mike's program is intended for ages 12 and up.

"The Train Guy" will be at the Osage Beach Library on Saturday, December 7, 2019, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and the Camdenton Library on Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
