French Fiddle Tunes and Tall Tales: The French Creole Story of Missouri

The Missouri Humanities Council and the Camden County Library District invite you to take a musical and historical trip with Dennis Stroughmatt at the Camdenton and Osage Beach Libraries. Recorded on location at both libraries, Osage Beach Library - Friday, June 12, 2020 and the Camdenton Library - Saturday, June 13, 2020

Dennis is considered an adopted son of the French Midwest Creole families found along the banks of the Mississippi River in St. Louis.  Dennis was taught to play the fiddle by Roy Boyer and Charlie Pashia in the same tradition as their fathers before them.  Dennis' music is a blend of Celtic, Canadian, and Old Time.  This music style has remained true to its traditions for over three hundred years due in part to the families who have preserved them through our Ozark foothills.
