Inter-library Loan is a method by which libraries can supplement and share their collections by borrowing materials from or loaning materials to other libraries. By this means, individual libraries are able to request specific information or items from other libraries.
Interlibrary Loan is a privilege we provide to library patrons in good standing with no outstanding fines, fees or other charges on their library account.   Damaged items will incur a charge stipulated by the lending library.  Repeated failure to return borrowed items on time, failure to pay late charges, etc., may result in a revocation of I.L.L privileges for that patron, at the discretion of the director.

• With KCMLIN Get Connected requesting an item is free.   If the item requested cannot be located through KCMLIN Get Connected libraries, a cost of $3.00 will be needed prior to the request being issued.
• There is a limit of three items that can be borrowed at one time.
• Renewing your item may be possible.  Renewals and the length of renewals are subject to the lending library's policy.
• All materials are subject to recall - if the lending library requests an item needs to be returned prior to the assigned date due, the materials must be promptly returned. Material can be requested again.

The following is a guideline of materials available through interlibrary loan.

Books and most items should be available at no cost.  Please note that some collectible or rare books are obviously unavailable. 

Subject Request
If, after a thorough search of our own resources, material on a specific subject is not available, we can help you locate an item to borrow.  Subject requests should be as specific as possible and submitted on the appropriate subject request form with as much information as is available on the topic.

Periodicals
Copies from periodicals, books, etc. are subject to copyright laws. 

Genealogical and local history materials
These materials are often rare and irreplaceable and may not be available. Any added fees charged to our library will be passed on to the patron.

Audiovisual materials
These items may be requested at the discretion of the library.
