Frequently Asked Questions
How many can a child checkout?
Five (5) items per child for children aged 4 or under may be checked out on parent or guardian card. Example: 10 items for parent + 5 items for first child, + 5 items for second child = 20 items total.
How long is the card good for?
Library cards are issued for one year. At the end of that time, the card will be updated if it is in satisfactory condition. If it is too worn or damaged for use, a new one will be issued free.
What happens if I lose my library card?
If a library card is lost, a $0.25 fee will be assessed for the first replacement, $1.00 for the second replacement, $3.00 for the third replacement and any thereafter. The maximum charge for a lost library card is $3.00. Cards that become worn to the point that they are no longer usable will be replaced free of charge.
What happens if I have over dues and how does that affect me?
Patrons may not check out any additional materials nor have any access to library computers if they have anything overdue - that is one item one day overdue equals no library privileges. Library cards are to be scanned every time any patron asks for computer access.
Anyone living in the same household with a person who has an overdue or billed item is also denied library privileges. When someone has over dues or billed items, they may NOT use the card of a spouse, sibling, child, parent or other resident of the same household to check materials out.
Patrons who have been billed 3 times with 5 or more items and/or materials valued at $50 or more are considered repeat offenders of CCLD Circulation Policies. Patrons will be limited to no more than 3 items with a total value of $50 or less. Repeat offenders of CCLD circulation policies will not have Inter Library Loan Privileges and this will stay on their library record for at least 5 years.
Limitations may be placed on the number of items on the same topic or by same author, particularly at times of peak demand for said materials.
Every library user's right to privacy will be strictly upheld. Under no circumstances will information from application cards or circulation records be available to anyone but library staff.
Patrons are required to have their library card or driver's license in order to check out books/materials or to use public access computers. Patron cards are scanned every time a patron requests access to computers, and if patron has anything overdue, no computer access is allowed. (Rev. 3-06)
